CNERG: Charting a path to net zero homes through optimized retrofits

Single-detached homes account for more than half of Canada’s residential buildings and consume more than twice the energy per capita compared to apartments. To help meet Canada’s 2030 and 2050 emissions reduction targets, this research focused on identifying the most effective retrofit strategies to reduce energy use in these homes, using a case study modelled on a house in Cambridge, Ontario.

CNERG: Exploring peer-led healthy eating initiatives for Conestoga students

This project examined healthy eating programs at post-secondary institutions across Canada to identify successful models, particularly those that are peer-led, and assess their potential for implementation at Conestoga.

CNERG: Bridging food security and food safety on Ontario campuses

This project explored food security initiatives across Ontario post-secondary campuses with two key objectives: to identify existing programs, especially creative or lesser-known hidden gems, and to apply a food safety and waste reduction lens to those initiatives.

CNERG: Investigating gaps in anti-trafficking efforts for international students

Led by Conestoga, this study explores how three post-secondary institutions: Conestoga, Wilfrid Laurier University, and the University of Waterloo, are raising awareness about trafficking risks and supporting vulnerable students.

CNERG: Supporting internationally educated health care workers

This research examined the experiences of internationally educated nursing and personal support worker students at Conestoga College, as well as insights from industry stakeholders, faculty, and hiring managers, to identify strategies for improving onboarding and workplace support.

CNERG: Pedestrian data collection at Conestoga's Waterloo campus

This research project leveraged innovative data collection methods to map pedestrian movement at the Waterloo campus

CNERG: Exploring the impact of international, peer-led study groups on nursing student leadership skills

This study explored the use of collaborative online international learning (COIL) as a tool to strengthen leadership skills among nursing students at Conestoga.

CNERG: Charting mastery: Developing a novel tool for evaluation of nursing students clinical learning

This research project focused on developing a valid and reliable tool to evaluate clinical learning outcomes for students in Conestoga’s B.Sc. nursing program.

CNERG: Clinical site assessment tool supporting the quality of nursing student placements

This study assessed the inter-rater reliability of the clinical site assessment tool (CSAT), a tool designed to evaluate the quality and readiness of clinical practicum environments for nursing students.

CNERG: Solar water heater feasibility study for under privileged towns and villages

In many underprivileged villages and towns with no potable water networks, households rely on rooftop water tanks and must use costly electricity to heat water for domestic use. These communities, often abundant in sunshine with minimal cloud cover, represent an untapped opportunity for solar energy utilization. This project explores the affordability and practicality of solar-powered water heating for small residential homes in such areas.
